Letter from the President – December 2010

Focus on Memories!

Every year at this time I like to take a look back at what has transpired in my family’s life throughout the year.  This has been one of those life-changing, life-appreciating, “no holds barred” years!  Whew!  In my own faith, I am comforted that there is always a plan from God and it is beyond my control to even try to comprehend it.  In your own belief system, you may have a similar mandate.  But what I have come to appreciate is this: life is ever-changing, and we can make the most if it by holding on to the memories which we create.

In this final month of 2010,  I ask you to take some time to look back and linger on the things that made sweet memories for you and your family.  The memories our children are making at Florida High get stronger and more meaningful because of your dedication to a rewarding educational opportunity here.  I want our precious children, from the youngest to the oldest,  to take away memories that will be fondly shared as they grow older.

Take some time in your busy schedule to make memories with your family that will last a lifetime.  You can now document them with an end-of-the-year family portrait.   To help celebrate Florida High families and jump start your memory making, our newest business sponsor, “AJ Studios Photography,” is offering you a FREE professional  outdoor sitting and a FREE 5×7 portrait.  Click Here for details!

Please try to take an hour out of your busy schedule to help in these final 2010 events!  Your secondary kids can get community service hours!!

Thank you for your support and dedication.  On behalf of my own family, I wish you safe travels, many blessings and, of course, happy memories in this holiday season.

Warm regards,
Robin

PTSA Fundraising

PTSA UPCOMING SPRING FUNDRAISER –
SOS/Save our Subscriptions!!

Dear Families and Friends of Florida High:

We are gearing up for a “Magazine Fundraising Drive” in the
spring to benefit Florida High!  This is an easy new fundraiser
because you can help out by either purchasing new magazines
or simply renewing magazines you already receive.

We need your help NOW by putting the brakes on renewing
your magazines until we hold our Magazine Drive in February.
Save Our Subscriptions!!!

HOW DOES IT WORK?  TWO EASY WAYS!

  1. New subscription orders and gift orders benefit our sale,
    and
  1. Your current subscriptions can be renewed through
our Magazine Drive and will begin to arrive when your
    current subscription expires.

WHO CAN HELP?  EVERYONE!

  • Friends and neighbors can place their new orders
AND current magazine renewals through our student
    sales!
  • Teachers, faculty and staff and our own school library
    can help our school too!?
  • Dentist offices, Doctor offices and a variety of
businesses that subscribe to magazines can help too!
  • Your participation will make our sale a great success!?

Look for more information when we shift into high gear after
the holidays and thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Alicia Cherry, Fundraising Chair/PTSA
Kasey Chapin, Fundraising Co-Chair/PTSA

Garnet Gold and Green Committee – G3

The Garnet, Gold and Green Committee will begin tree plantings later this month, will start the Terracycle recycling program after the holidays, hopefully we’ll get some new recycling bins for campus later this month, and successfully entered the nationwide “Recycling starts with I CAN” contest by collecting aluminum drink cans.

We also made about $150 at the fall carnival booth and promoted healthy snacks. We have found a way to recycle the leftover cooking oil from the football concession stand: one of our 5th grader’s grandfather converts it to biodiesel fuel and uses it to power his pickup truck.  If anyone knows of a source of additional used cooking oil, please let us know!
