Second Harvest Fall Food Drive - Nov. 3-7

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

The PTSA will be collecting items for Second Harvest the week of November 3rd in the classrooms. Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause.  It means so much to those kids who would otherwise not have enough over the weekend.

Items such as canned lean meats (tuna, chicken), rice and pasta, whole grain crackers (with peanut butter or cheese fillings), canned fruit and vegetables would be fabulous!

If you would like to help out with preparation and distribution of brown bags the week prior or collection of filled bags at end of the week, please click here for a sign up.

Can we top last year’s collection?  ABSOLUTELY

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Julie Lengacher.

Sincerely,

Flu Shot Clinic

Friday, September 5th, 2008
Flu Season Is Fast Approaching!
The PTSA is considering holding a Flu Shot Clinic for Florida High students/families and the community.

According to the PTA National website which oversees the program, “the cost for each shot is $30.00, of which $4.00 will be donated to the local PTA hosting the clinic and $1.00 to the state PTA.  Free vaccinations are available to those that meet the qualifications of the federal Vaccine for Children (VFC) program.”

The PTSA is trying to determine if there is enough interest for a Flu Shot Clinic.  Please fill out the linked one question survey below and share your thoughts with us!

Bike Rodeo
Susan Epstein
A PTSA school bike rodeo is tentatively scheduled for October.  Stay tuned for details.  This event will allow kids to have fun while learning about bike safety, important in light of the unprecedented number of bicycle deaths this year (3).  Last year’s rodeo featured a bike safety check and tuneup, an obstacle course where kids got to react to simulated dangerous situations, along with prizes and free bike helmets.  This year’s event is expected to be bigger and better.

Look for more details to come.  If you have any questions, contact Danni Vogt.  His e-mail link is below.

Annual Boo Hoo Breakfast

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Each year the PTSA holds a Boo Hoo (and for some of you, it may be a Yahoo!) Breakfast on the first day of school.  This is for kindergarten parents and new parents to the school to commiserate or rejoice as their child starts school.
Come and join us under the tent near the front office building!  Tissues will be available.

We need 2-3 volunteers! If you would like to help out with the breakfast, please contact Lori Fitzpatrick .

Back to School Teacher Breakfast

Monday, August 11th, 2008

In August 2007, the PTSA sponsored a Back-To- School Breakfast for the faculty and staff.  It was such a success that we have decided to hold it again this year.  The breakfast will take place on Friday, August 15 at 8:30 am in the cafeteria.

If you would like help out with the breakfast or contribute a breakfast casserole or breakfast bread of some sort, please click here .

If you have any further questions,  you may contact Kasey Chapin, PTSA President.
