HAPPY NEW YEAR!   I just love a new year … it reminds me of new beginnings and another year of learning and growing for our students!  Have you made New Year’s resolutions in your family?   If not, try it … just make one and hold your family accountable.  For super busy families, it could be everyone sits at the table for a meal at least ONE night a week!  How about at least one outdoor  family activity a week?  The weather has been so mild, we have no excuse! Start small and it’s easy to add on … don’t bite off too big a resolution or you’ll start off big and have a hard time getting back on track.  Baby steps … just like education. From kindergarten to high school seniors we grow and learn at a realistic pace. 

Give it a try and one day you will graduate to a new resolution!

"Do Something Good For Someone Elsel!"

This is my challenge for our families in this month of Thanksgiving. Step outside of your "box" and do something as a family or individually for someone else. Like:

• Drop a bag of groceries to a shelter.
• Walk your elderly neighbor’s dog.
• Cook a meal for a college student.
• Wash your teacher or prinipal’s car.
• Give books & toys to a kid’s "home"

I hope you and your family had a safe summer and you are looking forward to another wonderful year at FSUS.  I am so privileged to serve as your PTSA President again this year! I am very excited about all the new projects, programs and initiatives our Board is putting together for our kids!

The school year always seems to speed by at this point and I know we will soon be saying “where did the time go!?”

Make the most of your child’s school year by taking some extra time with a few more precious minutes at night reviewing their homework, asking about their day and some good old one-on-one with each child.  The stressors that can attack our kids like testing, grades, projects, events and college are right around the corner. 

 How can we help you?  Or more importantly how can we, your PTSA,  help your child or their teacher?  Drop me a note with any suggestions!  Your feedback is valuable in developing our programming each year. 

For Juniors and Seniors we are offering the new “Transitions” college prep classes and other curriculum enhancements for teachers.  We are assisting in funding Project Graduation and are bringing some very valuable (and relevant) Wellness & Safety presentations to school March 14-18th, including a compelling program about “Teen Texting & Driving.”

Our days are busy and our nights busier, but taking that valuable family “time-out” now will make for smoother days in the future!
